Three Podcasts to check out

A Heel for Toe Up socks

Part One: Gusset and Heel Turn

Heel pattern from Diagonal Lace Sock by Wendy Johnson

What I am trying to say in that rambly part of the video is that the heel turn is 8 rows total.

Calculations:

original stitch count = A

Total heel stitches after gusset increases = A*5/3 = B

Turn Heel:

B*2/3 = the number of stitches you k for row 1

B*2/5 = the number of stitches you p for row 2

Part Two: Heel Flap

Calculations:

New heel stitch total*3/4 = the number of stitches you k for row 1

Original stitch count – 2 = the number of stitches to k and p in subsequent rows
